Masks are also strongly recommended in sports and cultural facilities, supervision will be increased.

Southern Karelia's regional covid situation picture group clarified its corona recommendations today, Thursday 26.11.

Based on these recommendations, the city of Imatra also modified its own guidelines.

The most significant change is related to the previous one to the situation group's strong mask recommendation in public spaces.

In practice, this means that the mask recommendation comes into effect in the second grade, i.e. in high school education organized by the city of Imatra.

We have finals week in high school until next Wednesday. The groups do not mix on the closing days. We wear masks in the early days of the week. In the next few days, we will outline how teaching will be organized from Thursday of next week, principal of the joint high school Mika Strömberg says.

The city will inform about the upper secondary school's future teaching arrangements at the beginning of next week.

From Monday to Thursday, masks are offered to high school students on behalf of the city. As a rule, students have to get their own masks.

The upper secondary school and basic education staff will also wear masks from the beginning of next week at the Mansikkala school center due to the shared use of the facilities. There is no mask recommendation in other school centers.

Masks in gyms

The strong mask recommendation in public spaces also applies to sports and cultural spaces for people over 15 years of age who do not have a health barrier to wearing a mask.

For example, entering and leaving the sports hall, swimming hall and ice rink, as well as school gymnasiums in the evening, you must wear masks. You don't need to wear masks during exercise.

We will monitor compliance with general hygiene instructions and the use of masks in sports facilities. With these measures, we can together prevent the spread of the corona epidemic in Imatra. If the instructions are not followed, the city may have to limit the use of the facilities, head of welfare services Arja Kujala says.

Private events only for less than 10 people

The city emphasizes the remote work recommendation and hopes that it will be followed by all workplaces in the Imatra area as far as it is possible due to the nature of the work.

The provincial situation group urges to avoid private events of more than 10 people.

This recommendation should now also be taken seriously in Imatra. Nobody wants the corona epidemic to get worse during Christmas, Kujala reminds.

All new recommendations will come into effect from Saturday.
