The robotics project between the Imatra schools and the St. Petersburg school has not been able to carry out the planned meetings due to the corona virus, so it was decided to try a joint workshop using a remote connection.

The workshop was held today in the hall of the Mansikkala school center, where students from three different school centers gathered, keeping the safety intervals, each at their own office.
At the event, the groups presented the robots they had assembled as homework, whose task was to shoot a meteorite approaching the earth. The remote connection conveyed the robot's performance so well that the best performances drew applause from the other end of the remote connection as well.
The robot built by Eino Berg (left), Samuli Lankinen and Samu Lehikoinen from Vuoksenniska gave the meteorite powerful blows.
Although a remote connection does not replace a face-to-face meeting, the remote meeting clearly gave the feeling of working together.
- It is important that the students' connection is maintained, stated the head of education leading the project in the city of Imatra Minna Rovio.
In the survey conducted right after the workshop, the students gave positive feedback:
It was a fun event"
"Events are nice"
"I want to develop in programming. Cooperation with the people of St. Petersburg is nice and provides a lot of useful information."
This is good to continue towards the next workshops.
