A new winter event is being planned along the Vuoksi river: the tender for the producer is now underway

The theme of the winter event is Vuoksi and its implementation follows the principles of sustainable development. The competition for the event producer is currently underway.

The Visit Vuoksi project is planning a new event for next winter along Vuoksi in Imatra. The theme of the winter event can be, for example, ice, snow or water, and its arrangements follow the principles of sustainable development.

More detailed content is planned by the producer of the event. Bidding for the producer is currently underway.

The new winter event is planned to be organized in February-March, if the corona situation allows it.

- We are creating a new event specifically for winter, when there are hardly any events in Imatra. At the same time, we get to try out how environmental friendliness – such as food and waste recycling – is handled while saving the climate and nature, project manager of the Visit Vuoksi project Minna Kähtävä-Marttinen says.

Visit Vuoksi organizes the event every two years.

- The goal is that the various aspects of organizing a sustainable event have been tried hard over the course of two years, that mistakes have been learned and that the event continues as part of the regular event production of the Imatra region, Kähtävä-Marttinen states.

The producer is selected based on quality

A tender for an event producer is currently underway. The producer of the winter events of 2021 and 2022 will be selected purely on the basis of quality.

-Often the decisive factor in tenders is the price. In this tender, however, the price is defined in advance, and the choice is made based on which service provider produces the best content at the specified price, the procurement specialist Simo Timperi The city of Imatra tells.

The competition is open until Wednesday 11.11.2020 November XNUMX.

The Vuoksa festival in Losevo, Russia follows the same principles of sustainable development

In the coming years, the principles of the environmentally friendly event will also be tested at the Vuoksa festival organized in Losevo (formerly Kiviniemi) on the Karelian peninsula. The festival has been organized in Losevo for years, but in the future its organization will follow the same principles of sustainable development as the Imatra winter event.

- After the corona pandemic subsides, it is possible to build cooperation between these events, says Kähtävä-Marttinen.

By emphasizing environmental friendliness, we want to take into account the well-being of Vuoksi's environment in particular. At the same time, we want to create opportunities for local companies and organizations to develop new types of environmentally friendly activities.

- Hopefully as many event producers as possible will be interested and make an offer, Timperi hopes.

In events developed with the help of the Visit Vuoksi project we want to bring positive buzz around Vuoksi. In addition to a pair of summer and winter events, the project includes, among other things, a cross-border Vuoksenlaakso sustainable tourism route, which includes the events. Another highlight of the route are Vuok's unique natural and cultural destinations located in Finland and Russia, which attract visitors from as far as Central Europe. The project is financed by the Southeast Finland - Russia CBC program.
