The pipe from the groundwater intake is broken

The pipe from the Hiekkoinlahti groundwater intake at the bottom of Lake Immalan broke on Wednesday, September 9.9.2020, 20.00 at around 355:XNUMX, after which the facility switched to using surface water. Imatra's main water intake is the Hiekkoinlahti groundwater intake, from which the water is led to the Immala water plant along the XNUMX PEH pipeline located at the bottom of Lake Immala. The water is treated at the facility and is further piped through the network to consumers. There is no suspicion of vandalism in what happened.

The place where the pipe broke is known and it will be repaired as soon as possible, possibly already during the coming weekend. Meanwhile, surface water replaces groundwater in the production of domestic water.

- Surface water is treated and disinfected at the facility before distribution to consumers. The quality of household water is monitored and the water can continue to be used normally, says water supply manager Kari Pietarinen from Imatra water.
