In the future, the city's youth facilities will be in Mansikkala's new school center

Hengaamo and Niskan Kertsi youth centers will move their operations to the new Mansikkala school center in August.

Autumn also brings changes to the operation of the city's youth services. The youth centers Hengaamo from Imatrankoski and Kertsi from Vuoksenniska will move their operations to the new school center in Mansikkala. In the future, the school center's lobby will serve as a meeting place for young people.

Activities are organized two evenings a week, i.e. on Wednesdays and every other Friday from 16:21 to XNUMX:XNUMX.

The youth counselors Tuula Silventoinen, Jaana Lipsanen and Anne Tiainen work with the young people.

In the youth space, you can continue to play billiards, ping pong, board and console games, and small group activities are organized there on various themes that young people want, whenever possible.

- The task of a youth worker is to work where his field of work is, i.e. where the young people are and to see them as a whole. Youth work at school centers enables young people to meet during the day, in the evening, as well as at various events, functions and excursions, says the responsible youth director Marika Vento about the background of the move.

Mansikkala school center is shoeless, which should also be taken into account by those entering the youth facility.

In Imatrankoski Torigalleria, the Pilot and the investigative youth work will still remain.

Youth counselors in schools and the city
In addition to the youth facility, the youth counselors work at schools, i.e., in addition to the Mansikkala school center, the Koske and Vuoksenniska school centers.

At the start of the school year on Thursday 13.8. youth counselors are available at every school center throughout the school day.

Instructors can also be found in other parts of the city, as they move around the city in places popular with young people. Young people can come and discuss life-related issues with the youth counselors. Youth counselors can be identified by a black hoodie or vest, which says youth counselor on the back and the counselor's first name on the front. You can also contact the employees by calling, sending a message or on the social media channels Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat.
