Overflow at the Meltola wastewater pumping station on Wednesday evening

At the wastewater pumping station located at the end of Päivärinteenkatu in Meltola, yesterday, Wednesday 29.7. between around 20.00:22.00 and 20:XNUMX, an overflow, as a result of which wastewater has been able to flow into the Hallikkaanjoki. The estimated number of overflows is about XNUMX m³. The cause of the overflow is technical problems at the pumping station.

Samples will be taken from the Hallikkaanjo tomorrow, Friday, to determine the possible effects of the leak on the water body. The results of the samples will be known next week and their results will be announced separately.

Overflows have also occurred at the same pumping station earlier this summer. Based on the results obtained at that time, it has been found that the surface water was hygienically contaminated, but otherwise the water quality was not affected by the wastewater.
