Events on the weekend: Imatranajo, Cross Border Cup and Koski Open

In Imatra, Saturday and Sunday, August 1-2.8. are eventful in the field of sports.

In the coming weekend, several events will be organized in Imatra: the junior soccer tournament Cross Border Cup in Ukonniemi, the Frisbee golf competition Koski Open in Imatrankoski and the first ever Virtual Imatranajo in Koskenparta.

Cross Border Cup

Football's Cross Border Cup takes place on Saturday and Sunday, August 1-2.8. In Ukonniemi. No fewer than 49 junior teams have signed up for different leagues. The match program can be seen here.

About the Open

The Koski Open frisbee golf competition organized by Vuoksen DiscGolf ry will take place on Sunday, August 2.8. Around Kruununpuisto and Imatrankoski. 84 players have signed up, i.e. the maximum number of participants. The track is full of players from the beginning of the competition. Koski Open is contested in three series: open, women and seniors, i.e. over 40 years old.

- The public is welcome to watch the race from any of the lanes of the track, as long as safety is the primary consideration when choosing a viewing spot. Spectators cannot move in the fairways and positioning directly behind the throwing line is not advisable. When watching the competition, you should always pay attention to the player in the throwing turn in case of a possible unsuccessful throw. Players warn people about the puck coming towards them by shouting "fore!".

Good public-friendly routes in the competition include, for example, the area around the Bar&Cafe Kuohu terrace, the Koskiuoma crossing, the Valtionhotelli park area, the Hiidenkirnu cafe and the park area near the church. Virtual Imatranaj

From time to time, the first Virtual Imatranajo will be run on Koskenparta's pedestrian street on Saturday, August 1.8. Here, the best drivers of the preliminaries meet at the controls of a modern motorcycle simulator. Imatranajo is an event for the whole family, with a program from public competitions to live music. The event starts on Saturday at 12 o'clock and continues until 18 o'clock.

- In addition to motorcycling, Imatranajo 2020 offers, among other things, Formula 1 and rally simulators, 3D drawing for children, Tubettajien meetings and live band music. The drivers competing in the final are experienced, and it's exciting to see what kind of challenge the simulator offers, says Martti Solja About Imatranaj.
