Overflow at the sewage pumping station in Meltola

The leak is due to technical faults at the pumping station.

Technical problems have occurred at the wastewater pumping station at the end of Päivärinteenkatu in Meltola. Wastewater has overflowed into Hallikkajoki.

About 500 cubic meters of water has flowed past the pumping station. Currently, preparations are being made to install a temporary bypass pumping unit at the pumping station, says the water supply engineer Anu Nikulainen From the water of Imatra.

Samples will be taken from the Hallikkaanjo to find out the possible effects of the leak on the water body. The results of the samples will be known at the end of the week and their results will be announced separately.

From the same pumping station there was a leak also during heavy rains in mid-June. At that time, more water flowed past the pumping station than this time.
