More than half of the respondents would like to study at Imatra

Eighth graders were asked about their hometown in April. The survey investigated schoolchildren's opinions about their own hometown and future plans. Imatra had 36 respondents.

We are proud of our hometown

72 percent of the respondents were proud of their own hometown, and slightly more than half (53%) were willing to study in their own hometown, if a suitable educational place could be found.

Small, peaceful, boring, nice, cozy, beautiful, quiet were the words used to describe my own city. The best thing about Imatra is Vuoksi, nature, landscapes and good exercise opportunities. Imatra wanted more shops and shopping centers, better public transport connections, places for young people and more things to do and exercise opportunities.

At Imatra, only eleven percent were ready to stay after their studies, but on the other hand, half could not yet say where they wanted to live when they were young.

Respondents were also asked about local businesses. Both parties were interested in getting more information about the companies in their hometown and their employment opportunities. A fifth of the respondents said that there were companies in the town where they could work in the future. 17 percent were interested in entrepreneurship at Imatra.

About the survey

Thirteen regional towns conducted a survey for 2020th graders in April 8. A total of more than 1 young people responded to the survey. The purpose of the survey was to find out how kasi graders see their own city: what is the best in their hometown and what would young people like to see developed? Would they be ready to study in their own hometown for the profession of their dreams and what are the professional fields most interesting to young people. The most important question was, however, are the young people proud of their own city? The survey was carried out as part of the Flexible educational models together with business life project.
