Sapuskajelppi will help the people of Imatra from June

When the financial challenges of the corona started to become real, the local association of Imatra regional entrepreneurs made suggestions to the city about recovery measures. One of these was the distribution of food aid.

In cooperation with the city, the idea was refined so that 1.6. from 50 euros food gift cards are available for entrepreneurial families as well as other Imatra residents for whom Corona has caused financial difficulties.

Different parties as financiers

The city and its subsidiaries promised a total of 40 euros in support for the project. Etelä-Karjalan Osuuspankki (€000), Imatran Seudun Sähkö (€20), four K-traders (a total of €000), LähiTapiola Kaakkois-Suomi (€10), the local Entrepreneurs' Education Association (€000) and For 10 ry (000€).

The support pot is now EUR 88. The Imatra parish also joined in, promising to take care of the distribution of Sapuskajelppi gift cards.

In practice, Sapuskajelppi works so that the person in need of help contacts the diaconate work of the Imatra parish (more details at the end of the bulletin).

The congregation assesses the need for help and grants 50 euro Sapuskajelppi gift cards to those in need. Gift cards can be used to buy food and hygiene products, but not alcohol or tobacco products.

The gift cards will be assigned to the four Imatra K group stores that have committed to the project, i.e. K-Citymarket, K-supermarket Imatrankoski, K-supermarket Vuoksenniska or K-market Karhumäki.

A national example

With the aid amount collected now, there is enough help for more than 1600 households.

Sapuskajelppi is a nationally unique way of working.
