Imatra is preparing to return to classroom teaching

Release
30.4.2020 13:05
In accordance with the policy of the country's government, the elementary school will return to classroom teaching on May 14.5.

The Finnish government has decided on Wednesday 29.4. dismantle the restrictions of basic education based on the assessments made by the health authorities. In Finland, we will switch back to face-to-face teaching on May 14.5. from In addition, the recommendations regarding early childhood education were withdrawn.

The alignment does not apply to the second level, i.e. in Imatra, high school and vocational school. Regarding these, the government's instructions are awaited.

According to the government's policy, the start of face-to-face teaching means the end of distance teaching. The government has outlined that the attending physician assesses whether a child who or whose family member has a serious underlying illness or who needs regular medication that suppresses the immune system can return to school or pre-school.

If the guardian does not send their child to school and the child does not have a health certificate, the guardian must request permission for the absence from the principal through Wilma in accordance with standard practice and ensure that the child does not fall behind others in school work.

School catering and transportation to be considered

The government outlined that close-to-home teaching must be organized while taking care of safety. In early childhood education and basic education, unnecessary physical contact must be avoided and teaching spaces must be arranged so that they have more space than normal.

Intermissions and school meals should also be done with your own class or group. Imatra is still waiting for more detailed instructions and the government's policies over the weekend.

Large gatherings, such as spring parties, are not organized.

The first thing Imatra will do is figure out how to guarantee that teaching is organized freely.

─ We are now mapping out how the issue of space would be implemented in the schools' current facilities. As another option, we find out to what extent we need to arrange additional facilities, versus the mayor Kaisa Heino says.

Similar arrangements are also being considered for school meals. Returning to local education means that school meals will return on May 14.5. to normal practices. In other words, school meals are offered to children at schools, portion distribution ends when home teaching starts.

School transportation and the return of public transport to normal practices will also be considered (line 4).

In early childhood education, we prepare

With regard to early childhood education and pre-primary education, guardians must report care times for week 20 as soon as possible through the Tietoedu system. Registrations are requested by Sunday evening, May 3.5. by. If the child returns to early childhood education next week, you should contact the child's group or the daycare director directly.

If the family takes care of the child at home in May, the temporary payment credits are valid until May 31.5. until.

According to the layoff notices issued by the city, the layoff of some, for example school counselors, would have started on May 8.5. At least for schools, layoffs will be cancelled. As for the others, the matter will be outlined next week, when the more detailed restriction guidelines are clear.

The city will inform guardians no later than Wednesday 6.5 May. about returning to classroom teaching and arrangements for early childhood education. Guardians can also read this information via Wilma.
