Vesterin's corona gigs brought visibility to Imatra

Cantor working as Inker of Imatra and director of the musical theater group Heini Vesterinen the calendar is usually quite full, but in the middle of March it was completely empty due to the corona epidemic.

- The first week I learned to use modern technology. Then I started to miss people. The work started on Friday of the first corona week. Sirpa Hytönen from Immala's Loiste had seen balcony singing on the internet and asked if it would be successful here as well. I answered yes, Heini Vesterinen says.

Since then, there have been about dozens of yard gigs in serviced buildings and private homes during the month. Many people living elsewhere in Finland order yard musicians for their loved ones suffering from loneliness in Imatra.

The entire Vesterinen family performs in the yard music.

- Initially, the children were not supposed to participate in the yard music, but we noticed that they have a better time when they get to join in, says Johannes Vesterinen.

According to Heini Vesterinen, in the greetings, one or more from a list of ten songs are presented, depending on the wish and situation of the subscriber. 

- The basic program has a few hymns and spiritual and evergreen songs. The unifying factor is that they are positive and bring hope, Heini says.
