The city changes from an owner to a tenant. The use of the premises will continue unchanged.

Imatra's school network reform is also of interest to investors. Imatra Toimitilat is selling the new building in Vuoksenniska for 10,8 million euros and leasing back the property for 20 years.

The buyer is a Swedish real estate investment company Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden AB (SBB). The buyer owns several schools and public administration properties. The company's goal is to expand its operations in Finland.

─ The city of Imatra gave Mitra the task of surveying investor buyers and negotiating the realization of real estate deals. I am satisfied that we found a long-term owner for the property and right now closing the deal is very profitable from our point of view, CEO Lassi Nurmi says.

With sales revenue and freed up capital, the seller company reduces debt and improves its profitability.

─ Imatra is also a pioneer in this matter on the municipal side. The most important thing for us is operation and decent facilities, not ownership, chairman of the city board Anna Helminen says.

The buyer is satisfied with the cooperation.

Imatra is a very progressive city because it invests heavily in schools and sustainable development. SBB is again the largest owner of social real estate in the Nordic countries. In the long term, we are committed to investing in those municipalities that prioritize sustainable development and invest in future generations, SBB:n managing director and founder Ilija Batljan says.

No change in everyday life

According to the agreement, the tenant is responsible for all maintenance costs related to his tenure. However, the buyer is responsible for repairs related to basic maintenance.

The sale does not affect the use of the property in any way. The school continues its everyday life as normal.

Mitra started the negotiations Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden AB company with in the autumn of last year. Today, the city government gave its approval for the sale of the new building of the Vuoksenniska school as owner guidance. The deals will be made in the near future.

The buyer has also shown interest in the acquisition of other school properties. If the city considers selling these in the future, the deals will first be negotiated with SBB.
