Street cleaning a couple of months ahead of normal winter

Cleaning the streets after winter is already well underway. Brushing work started a couple of weeks ago, and little by little all bike paths and other key places have been brushed. We are moving to residential streets when the larger thoroughfares have been completed.

- We are also starting to wash the streets, but the slowness is the night frosts, which are expected next week as well. We would also like rain, so that the streets would not need to be watered separately, says the responsible master Kimmo Kauhanen From Imatran Kiinteistö- ja Aluepalvelu Oy.

Washing will start this week and it will be done mainly in the afternoon, because in the afternoon the temperatures are on the positive side. The work is done in one shift, because there is no rush now.

The cleaning of the streets is almost two months ahead of schedule this spring, because in a normal spring the last brushing of the sand has been done in June. The exceptional winter reduced the use of sandblasting sand, but at the same time it was left rolling on the roadways, because even the snow did not have to be plowed.
The city's large construction and road construction sites in Mansikkala and Imatrankoski, from which sand and clay are carried around the city, bring their own challenge to the cleanliness of the streets.

- In addition to cleaning the streets, we do normal cleaning, that is, we keep our city clean, continues Kauhanen.
