Mäihä won the idea competition for Imatra's Ukonniemi activity park

The winner of the public vote was the proposal imatraLAINE.

The city of Imatra and Lappset Group Oy jointly organized a spatial planning idea competition last year with the Ukonniemi nursery area as its target. The award committee chose the proposal of a team of two students from Häme University of Applied Sciences as the winner Luck. Explanation related to the proposal.

The winner of the public vote was the proposal imatraLAINE. Voimala was chosen by the shadow council of the students of the Faculty of Physical Education of the University of Jyväskylä.

All awarded competition entries were submitted by students of Häme University of Applied Sciences. The results were announced today, February 12, 2020, in Jyväskylä during the Green Days.

Ideas competition for proposals for the development of Ukonniemi

According to the award jury, the winning work had excellent consideration of the placement of versatile functions and areas that remain open. The design of the terrain, the routes and the choices of vegetation were carefully planned. The winning work of the idea competition is called Luck was the students' Sanni Virjulan ja Johanna Kuurila proposal, and was awarded 3 euros.

Second-placed Kipinä was awarded with a recognition of 1 euros, and that was it Sanna Agrillanderin, Eila Hannulan, Päivi Kokkola ja Tiina Paalasmaan handwriting. The public voting site on the website of the city of Imatra was visited by more than 1 visitors, and 200 votes were cast. The winner of the public voting received a prize of 450 euros.

Voimala was chosen by the shadow jury of exercise science students

A total of 16 proposals were submitted to the competition aimed at students of landscape architecture and landscape design, of which the preliminary jury selected eight to be presented to the award committee. The winners were chosen by closed ballot at the award committee meeting held on January 15.

The city is thinking about what and how the plans will be used in the future.

We got a lot of good competition entries. We are happy and even surprised about it. Now we look at how we can use these plans piece by piece. We can pick the best pieces from several competition entries for implementation, Imatra's city gardener Erika Luhtanen says.

Lappset Group Oy has been organizing spatial planning idea competitions in cooperation with municipalities and cities for 44 years.

The idea competition is part of Lappset's socially responsible activities as well as customer and higher education cooperation.
