Exceptional traffic arrangements at the Tainionkoski railway bridge construction site have started

Construction of a new double-track track bridge is currently being prepared on Tainionkoskentie near the central station. There will be changes to traffic from time to time caused by the work, at least for the next two and a half years.

In the past week, the traffic of Tainionkoskentie was directed to pass under the bridge in two lanes on both sides of Vuoksenpuolei.

- Traffic is practically open all the time, but sometimes only two lanes may be in use at the bridge. At least when the old bridge is demolished, traffic will have to be cut off completely at night. But they will be announced separately, says the work manager of GRK, which is contracting the bridge site Antti Rämä.

The renovation will cause changes for heavy traffic, but not for buses.

- Heavy traffic may have to look for a detour because during construction the lower surface of the bridge will be too low for them. It can fit buses, says Rämä.
