The first compensation for the right of use from New Port Imatra to the city next autumn.

In the future, the space and safety manager will be responsible for the port agreement of the city of Imatra Sami Turunen. He works as a contract manager for New Port Imatra Oy, which operates as a port operator. Previously, the task was handled by the director of urban development.

The port operation was tendered during 2015. As a result of the competition, New Port Imatra Oy was chosen as the port operator from among three shortlisted candidates, whose background is the Finnish state-owned MeriTaito Oy and the private Marinetek Oy.

The agreement entered into force at the beginning of 2016 and its duration is 20 years. It is possible to get a five-year extension to the contract.

It has been specified in the agreement from the beginning that for the years 2016 - 2019 no compensation was charged for the right of use. From 2020 onwards, it will be collected from New Port Imatra at 25 euros per year. The payment is due for the first time this year in October-November.
