The turn will also include, for example, disabled and elderly councils, entrepreneurs and sports clubs.

The head of welfare services is responsible for the impact assessment discussion sessions Arja Kujala.

The spa is no longer an option

The presented options have been narrowed down to two. The options are as follows:

  1. A sports hall near the ice rink in Ukonniemi and a swimming hall (25m) in or near Mansikkala
  2. Sports hall and swimming hall (25m-50m) near the ice rink in Ukonniemi

The mapped location options for Mansikkala for the swimming pool have been the following:

  • Virtra park
  • Undeveloped land area between Pässinniemi and Imatrankoski (wetland, requires special measures for construction, lack of infrastructure - expensive)
  • The plot of the Pulliainen house and the adjacent plot in Mansikkala on the other side of the train station and the track (one plot is owned by Evälahti and the other by a private investor, cramped, parking spaces scarce)
  • Old Mansikkala health center plot and adjacent plot (Designed for business)
  • Saimia University plot (small)
  • The current land area of Linnala school (protection designation, plan change required)

Excluded, suggested options for the location of the swimming pool:

  • Ivo area (zoned as a small house area and the rest owned by Fortum)
  • Industrial area in Mansikkala, behind the former Prisma (requires a wider plan change with all planning)
  • Regarding the school's sports field, it is needed for school use and the soil does not allow heavier construction
  • Linnala field, needed for school use
  • In connection with Imatra Spa
