Energy and moisture damage repair grants apply to all apartment types

At the beginning of the year, grants from the State Housing Financing and Development Center (ARA) have expanded to cover energy, mold and moisture damage renovations.

The expansion of ARA grants will speed up the submission of applications and renovations, believes the renovation construction engineer of the city of Imatra Pertti Purovaara.

- Everyone can now apply for temporary energy assistance, apartment buildings, terraced houses and single-family houses. In all of these, the assistance is apartment-specific, also in an apartment building. The grant amount varies from four to six thousand euros, at most it is 50 percent of the costs. You can get a subsidy for, for example, installing solar panels, switching to geothermal heat or improving insulation.

It's not a completely over-the-top aid.

- Getting the grant is based on e-calculation. Let's start with the initial reading, which must be done by a professional. The repairer must demonstrate an improvement in the e-number calculation, says Purovaara.

ARA has also reacted to the moisture damage problem that affects many.

- Assistance is now available for the condition survey of apartments suffering from indoor air problems. If you are going to make repairs, you can get help with the planning.

According to Purovaara, other ARA subsidies, such as elevator subsidies, will largely follow the old rules this year as well. For housing companies, Purovaara has a special tip.

- We have a lot of housing associations that can no longer get loans. The cheapest way to increase the collateral value of the house is to repair the elevator with the support of ARA. After that, you can get a loan for even bigger renovations when the collateral value increases.

There is an ongoing application for ARA grants, but energy grants must be applied for by June 30.6.2020, XNUMX. The application is made electronically via the ARA website.
