Special grant to support sports activities for children and young people from low-income families in 2020

The city of Imatra has received a special grant of 7 euros from the Regional Administrative Agency of Southern Finland to support the exercise hobby of children and young people aged 15-11 from low-income families.

The grant is distributed as a targeted grant to local registered associations that organize sports. It cannot be granted to cover administrative costs of associations, unregistered entities, commercial activities or equipment purchases.

The grant supports the basic exercise activities of children or young people from low-income families. The basic activity is the weekly exercise of children or young people in the club's guided sports activities. In particular, it must be noted that the support for the basic activity of the sports hobby that is the subject of the subsidy does not exceed 50 euros per month per child or young person. Sports competitions, competition trips and camps are not considered included in the price of the basic activity. The grant will be used during 2020.

Applying for a grant

Assistance is requested from the city with a free-form application. The application must state the size of the grant applied for and the information of the club's contact person and how the club or association plans to implement the use of the grant, so that it is targeted at supporting the exercise hobby of children and young people from low-income families. 

The grant to be distributed must fulfill one or more of the following goals:

  • to promote equal, equal and accessible physical activity opportunities for children and young people from low-income families
  • enables children and young people who are at risk of being marginalized to participate in a sports club
  • prevent dropping out by keeping children and young people from low-income families involved in activities as athletes, exercisers and social workers
  • develops innovative and new operating models in supporting sports activities for children and young people from low-income families

Payment of subsidy

The municipality makes a written agreement with the association receiving the grant on the use of the grant, monitoring of use and their conditions before the grant is paid.

Actual use of the grant

The association will provide a report on the use of the grant to the municipality by December 31.12.2020, XNUMX using the report form it received in connection with the written agreement.
