The power outage resulted in an overflow into Vuo

A power outage at the Honkapirti pumping station caused sewage to overflow into Vuo early Sunday morning. The size of the overflow was about 64 cubic meters. According to the assessment of the environmental department of the Imatra region, the harm caused by the leak is minor.

The discharge point for the overflowing wastewater is on the east bank of Vuoksi, next to the Kupari residential area.

Below the demolition site is the Ovako factory area as well as fields and forest.

─ Since the amount of wastewater was not very large to overflow and since Vuokse has a large flow, we consider that the environmental damage in this case has been minor. The overflow has mixed with Vuoksi's large volume of water, environmental engineer Helena Kaittola says.
