Logging will start next week

The preparatory work for the Kostinpuisto neighborhood gym will start next week.

Construction starts with the thinning of the trees. The trees are mostly felled in the center of the area, the edge trees of the park are saved for the most part.

When logging starts, movement in the construction site area is not allowed. The construction site area will be marked on the ground with a flag line. Trees are felled during the day.

Traffic on the road called Kotipolku normally takes place, for example, to a Karelian household, although a temporarily reduced speed can be set in the area.

After the thinning of the forest, the land area of the park will be leveled for the multipurpose field. This work will be done later this year.

Until now, the area has housed the city's frisbee golf course. Its current use will end after this weekend, when the fairway structures will be removed. 3-4 fairways will be left in place at the edge of the park area.

─ In the future, we will think about where to place the wider frisbee golf course, special expert in education and teaching services Harri Valtasola says.

The sports park will be completed in the summer of 2020

The construction of the local sports center will continue next spring. At that time, a multi-purpose field, a play arena, swings, a balance area and a small maintenance building with a changing room, toilet and storage will be built in Kostinpuisto.

Kostinpuisto's neighborhood gym is primarily intended for the use of pre-school and elementary education at the neighboring Mansikkala school center for physical education classes and long breaks. Access to the area is controlled from the school via an underpass tunnel.

At other times, the park serves as a playground and exercise field for all city residents.

─ The local sports center will be completed next summer, before the opening of the Mansikkala school center.

The renovation works at Kostinpuisto cost a total of 480 euros. The Regional Administration Office of Southern Finland has supported the project with 000 euros at this stage.
