The joint project between Imatra and St. Petersburg school was kicked off in St. Petersburg on Wednesday.

Programming, coding and problem solving are studied in the three-year New Stream of Technology (Nesttec) project.

The head of educational services piloting the project Minna Rovio according to the project inspires both students and teachers to robotics.

- This is where contacts and peer learning are created. I hope that a new window to the future will open for many of those involved. This is a certain attraction factor for us, says Rovio.

The Nesttec project is important not only for the students themselves, but also for business life.

- The project will strengthen the competence needs of the future, the principal of Vuoksenniska school Janne Rautiainen says.

The principal of Imatra's project partner Pietari school number 622 Natalia Aleksakhina says that the project hopes to get young people interested in modern technology, the preservation of our planet and ecology.

- Robotics and programming are new things for us. Through this, the new children get the opportunity to realize themselves and develop in their own areas of strength, Aleksahina concludes.

For the students, the project will start at the end of November, when the people of St. Petersburg arrive for a joint robotics workshop in Imatra.
