On Independence Day, digital music virtuoso Netta Skog sets the pace in Finlandia.

Imatrankoski is bubbling again on Independence Day and at the turn of the year.

On Independence Day, the new display lights will be officially put into use, at least partially. The lights are already being tested in the previous weeks, but you can see them with the bubbles on 6.12. in the show starting at 17 p.m.

We hope to be able to use the lighting in its entirety. These lighting projects are very unique, the last time the technology was renewed in 1998, responsible for the rapids shows Pentti Miikki Imatran Base Camp states.

About 30 new LED lights are coming to illuminate the riverbed, along with the lights on the bridge. They are intended to create both display lighting and general lighting for everyday life.

Skogin's Finlandia plays on a digital accordion

On Independence Day, we want the rapids display to be more impressive than usual. This time, the virtuoso of digital music brings his own flair to the show Netta Skog. Digital harmonica world champion Skog plays Sibelius's Finlandia on the spot with a modern take. His genre is close to folk and metal. Skog has previously performed with, among others, Mokoma and Children of Bodom.

He has to adjust the song a bit to make it 16 minutes long.

Skog's performance can also be seen on the spot on a big screen near the dam. In addition, the performance will be videotaped, says Miikki.

Before the rapids show, the city organizes a traditional Independence Day celebration at Kulttuuritalo Virra at 14 p.m.

Watch and listen to Finlandia performed by Netta Skog.
