The Koski school center's art competition season was extended

Release
11.10.2019 11:30
Only ten participants so far.

The period of the upcoming Koske School Center art competition will be extended until December 31.12.2019, XNUMX to receive additional proposals.

The environmental working group of the city of Imatra and the steering group of the service network renewal decided to continue the competition, because only ten proposals were submitted to the competition.

Among these ten proposals, four competition proposals had to be rejected because they did not meet the boundary conditions of the competition program in terms of the placement places given to the works of art or the use of materials required at the placement site.

We expected a little more suggestions. Similarly, we expected that topics related to Vuoki, Imatra and the power of the rapids would have been better presented, chairman of the environment working group, director of urban development Topiantti Ääks says.

─ It is important that those participating in the competition pay special attention to the applicability of the works to Imatra and the school world mentioned in the competition program, to the places assigned to the works, and to the fact that the competition seeks an idea for a permanent, public, professionally realized work of art, the art coordinator involved in the organization of the competition Reetta Ahonen stress.

Three seat options

Koski School Center receives art according to percentage principles. Three alternative locations have been chosen for the future art. They are the roof of the interior of the new property's central hall, the facade of the north end or the school yard.

Competitors can submit their drafts to a maximum of two of the previous places. Whether the art will be in one or two places will be decided when the artists' plans and cost estimates are available.

Competition entries are expected to have a strong visual and substantive vision.

The competition is aimed at artists who have an Imatra connection through living, studying or working.

The result will be announced in January-February.
