The ski season starts in Imatra in just over a week.

Whereas in other places people still walk around with umbrellas, in Imatra they already spray with skis.

The ski season in Imatra starts on 19.10. At that time, the longest ski slope in Southern Finland and the first to be put into use will open.

Making the track on the terrain has started. Imatran Kiinteistö- ja Aluepalvelu Oy (Kipa) is responsible for the construction and maintenance of the track.

The goal of Ensilumenlatu is to open Imatra to Ukonniemi right away in a full five kilometers.

Kipa always makes about 50 cubic meters of snow in the warehouse the previous winter, and it is stored under the logs for the coming season.

The city's track has been popular not only with fitness skiers, but also with professional athletes.

─ For example, the junior national teams of Belarus and a large number of domestic and foreign club teams are again coming to camp in Imatra, Responsible for sales at Ukonniemi camp sales Jaakko Jäppinen says says.

Children's skiing competitions at the opening

Saturday 19.10. the opening of the first snow slope will be organized in a joyful Karelian style.

There will be, among other things, children's skiing competitions, tips on lubrication and equipment procurement from a ski equipment doctor, and a shooting experiment with eco-guns.
Imatra's Athletes' Canteen is open to the public and Teatteri Imatra's actor Kari Kinnari works as sparring and commentator for the contestants.

The opening event is produced by Imatra's Athletes in cooperation with IBC and the city of Imatra.

On the opening day, you can ski on the slopes for free. Ensilumenlatu's ski pass can be purchased online or at three different points of sale: at the cash desk of the sports hall, Imatra Spa or Saimaa Sport company in Ukonniemi.
