The board will issue a policy on 20.8. City residents and staff can give their opinion by Friday.

The service network of early childhood education will be renewed, as well as that of schools. The city guarantees safe, functional and modern facilities for all children and staff in early childhood education. At the same time, we prepare for changes in the number of children.

The preparation for the change started last winter, and at the beginning of the summer, the city presented the citizens with six different options for where the kindergartens will be located in the future. Opinions on the alternatives were requested from several different parties and townspeople.

Preparations for the change have continued during the summer. In the further preparation, one more option emerged (G-model).

─ In option G, the five-year-olds in the area of the Mansikkala school center would have their own facilities for preschool and elementary education in the new wooden school. According to the more detailed student number forecasts, they can fit into the new school property, the head of early childhood education services Minna Leinonen says.

F and G have been chosen for the final straight out of the seven models by decision of the board and the city board.

In the F model, the old kindergartens in Mansikkala and Imatrankoski will be demolished. Their functions will be transferred to the Tainionkoski school's pre-school and canteen space and to the Mikonpuisto daycare center, which is running out.

Also in the G model, the Imatrankoski daycare center will move to Mikonpuisto. The five-year-olds in Mansikkala and Tainionkoski will move to the new school center, the younger age groups will mainly go to the kindergarten in Tainionkoski.

The welfare board chooses one of these two models and presents it to the city council. The board meeting is on August 20.8.

─ The official presentation to the board will only be made at the meeting, because until next Friday, the townspeople and staff can give their opinions on the two models. This way, opinions are taken into account in decision-making, Leinonen states.

Opinions can be submitted until Friday 16.8 August. by 15 p.m. to the city hall's customer service, customer serviceatimatra.fi. The subject of the message should be Early Childhood Service Network.

Minna Leinonen, head of early childhood education services, is available for questions on Wednesday 14.8 August. at 18.30:19.30-XNUMX:XNUMX in the council hall of the city hall.
