The safety of school roads was improved during the summer

During the summer, measures have been taken to improve traffic safety in the surroundings of Koske and Vuoksenniska schools.

Vuoksenniska school center Improvements related to the safety of light traffic and pedestrian crossings have been made, for example, on Vuoksenniskantie, near the old Kaukopää school, Leppärinte and Metsärinte. The paintings of the pedestrian crossings have been improved and the reflective arms of the pedestrian crossing signs have been added to the pedestrian crossings. 
Vuoksenniska is also getting a completely new bike path from Bio Vuoksi hill via Havrintine to the school. 

I'm talking about the school center the visibility of the crosswalks in the surroundings has been improved by improving the crosswalk paintings and adding reflective posts to the crosswalk signs from the school to the Pistetaloi roundabout. Traffic speeds on Vuoksentie are reduced to 30 kilometers per hour between Virta-kuja and the current cantonment parking area. Driving through Kanavakatu is prohibited.

The city of Imatra has drawn up traffic safety plans, the purpose of which is to improve the safety of school roads. In accordance with the plans, work related to school traffic safety will continue. 

- We have prepared maps of the safe routes of the Vuoksenniska and Koske school centers for children's guardians, which are also attached to this announcement. Information is also distributed to parents through Wilma, says project manager Mari Routti.
