The center of Imatrankoski will be improved next summer

The general appearance of Neppariaukio is made more pleasant and its grouping is clarified. The square will have more greenery in the form of large planting basins. There will be small trees and bushes in the pools. In addition, seating groups are made with different benches and seats. Some of the groups will get umbrellas. Lighting will be added to the square and to the front offices of the surrounding properties. 
In the future, the square will also include mobile phone charging stations, a bicycle repair station and bike parks with lockable racks. 
An empty space will be left in the middle of the square for various events, and there will also be a small podium in one corner. 
- We have tried to take into account the wishes of potential users in the design of the square. We have asked, among other things, the youth council and local entrepreneurs about their wishes. Hopefully, the renovated square will be used more in the future than at the moment, hopes the city gardener Erika Luhtanen. 
The renovations of the square are planned to be done during next summer.

There are also repairs on the pedestrian street

The performance stage and the paving of the street are being repaired on Koskenparta's pedestrian street, the stage will also receive plantings after the repair. The furniture in poor condition on the street will be renewed, as well as the safety platform under the playground. The small pavilion on the street will be renovated and moved closer to the playground, bicycle parking will be added and renovated, and trees in poor condition will also be replaced with vines. 

The end of Matinkatu will be renewed in the same way as last year's end of Jukankatu with its planting basin and stones. Lockable and fixed bicycle parking spaces will be added to both streets.  

The purpose of the renovations in the center of Imatrankoski is to improve the general appearance of the center and at the same time increase comfort and safety. The repair work will be done during the summer, the work will start with the renewal of the platform and paving in Koskenparta in May. Some of the work is only done at the end of summer, after the busiest event season has passed.
