A new kind of cooperation on public procurement

Procurement in the Imatra Region (HIH) - the project involves cooperation between the procurement units of the region. In the project, among other things, the new procurement training concept developed by the city of Imatra, "The Imatra Method", or TIM, will be tested. The training aims to bring public procurement closer to local entrepreneurs and thus also benefits the business life of the region. 

Procurement units organize procurement training in turn, and experts in their field act as trainers. In addition to the city of Imatra, Ruokolahti and Eksote are involved in the educational cooperation.

The first training was held in Ruokolahti and used as an example the Ruokolahti municipality's request for a contract for the construction of a loft in the gymnasium lobby. The example was real and gave the entrepreneurs present the opportunity to write an offer at the event. The training also covered the legislation binding entrepreneurs in public procurement and the entire tender submission process. Nine local entrepreneurs attended the first training.

The trainer was HTM, procurement expert Simo Timperi from the city of Imatra. 

- This type of cooperation between procurement units is unique in Finland, there is no similar experiment elsewhere. We hope that the educational cooperation and the HIH project will set an example for other regions as well, says Simo Timperi.

There was also a person present at the training session Riikka Mehiläinen from Elektroway Oy. In his opinion, the training was overall good and the use of an existing example gave him good reasons to participate in the offer.

- It's great that the acquisitions have been brought to an entrepreneurial level, it's no longer a matter of information not being available if you just want it. This district now has a good drive in entrepreneurial matters, says Mehiläinen. This concept is good and it should definitely be continued. 

The project's trainings continue and the next trainings are planned to be held during the spring. HTM, procurement expert Simo Timperi and Ruokolahti's municipal manager, OTM, acted as trainers. Tuomo Sallinen.
