The problem was revealed to be an old pipe duct and an air leak from it.

Air leakage routes were found in the premises of the old high school last fall, which have now been blocked. Class 120 was started to be investigated because there were symptoms in this condition. After several investigations, the problem was revealed to be an air leak from below.

In connection with the renovation of the Lyceum, the old pipe channel in the basement level had not been filled. From there, there were uncontrolled air connections to the classroom through the wall and floor connection and sockets.

During the Christmas holidays, air leakage routes were blocked. In January, re-examinations were carried out on the air quality of the classroom and the tightness of the premises. Material samples were also taken from the classroom. These research results were completed last Friday. Based on them, the air quality in the classroom is now good. There are no more air leaks and there were no indications of structural problems in the samples. The ventilation was also a bit unbalanced, and this issue has been fixed.

─ In addition, during the week of the winter holidays, the old pipe channel was depressurized to make sure that the problem will not reoccur, facility and safety manager Sami Turunen says.

Air purifiers have been in use in the classroom since autumn.
