The Vuoksenniska library will be opened in the new building Immala Loistee on Kalevala and Finnish culture day 28.2.2019 February 10. The mayor will cut the ribbon at 18 a.m., and the opening program will last until XNUMX p.m. The local library will operate with a new concept in cooperation with Eksote. The combination of a library and supervised senior housing is completely new in Finland, when the same space serves as both a local library and a group space for the residents and a sauna room.

The Immalan Loiste property, completed in Vuoksenniska, Imatra, was built as a project of Mitra Imatra Rakennuttaja Oy. Housing for the elderly, guided senior activities and the services of the city library in the same building provide the opportunity for new types of activities. The diverse program of the library's opening day is a great starting point for the new, versatile cultural space in the district.

The new local library will become an accessible, barrier-free and equal living room for the people of Imatra. The library's service hours will remain the same (Mon–Wed 12–18, Thu–Fri 10–16), but the library's opening hours will triple. After the necessary technology is completed, the possibility to do business in the library outside of service hours will be introduced. Self-service time will be daily from 7 am to 21 pm, so the library will also be available on weekends and public holidays.

In addition to a fresh and updated collection, the library offers space for events, work and gatherings of small groups. Events and activities in the library are created through the cooperation of the city staff and Eksoten's instructor and according to the activity of the customers. A youth counselor is on duty at the library every week. The library is for city dwellers of all ages. Residents of the building, their loved ones, associations, organizations, kindergarten, school and student groups, as well as other entities and experts interested in creative cooperation are also welcome to produce activities for a communal meeting place. The residents of the senior house have the nice advantage that they can go to the library through the interior, whether it's hot, thundering or freezing outside.

The property owned by Mitra has a total of 42 studios and small two-room apartments intended for the elderly. The South Karelia social and health district (Eksote) provides guided senior living in the building for the residents of 21 apartments. Guided senior housing is independent rental housing for residents selected by Eksoten in their own apartment. In the operation of guided senior housing, the goal is to support the resident's own resources, everyday well-being and quality of life. On weekdays, from Monday to Friday, a counselor trained in the health care field works with the residents of the supervised senior housing, who is hired by Eksote to support the residents in everyday life and organize community activities. In supervised senior housing, the resident purchases home care services and other support services according to his functional ability and service needs, if necessary. In addition to guided senior housing, the building has 21 regular rental apartments aimed at the elderly. On the first floor of the new building are also the offices of the Ruokolahti-Vuoksenniska home care area's Vuoksenniska team.
