Imatra checks the location plans of the old schools.

The city of Imatra announces site plan changes, which will open up a discussion about what will happen to old schools in the future.

Among the plan changes coming on February 17 are the areas where the decommissioned Linnala school and the schools of Imatrankoski, Kaukopää and Tainionkoski are located. In the first phase, the participation and evaluation plans (OAS) will be made visible, which describe the starting points, goals and schedule of the plan design. There is an opportunity to give feedback about OAS. The first draft plans will be brought to the discussion later.

─ In the preliminary discussions, however, it has been planned that for the Linnala school, it is proposed that the school properties be demolished and the construction of apartment buildings with Vuoksi views will be allowed instead, city planning manager Ulla Karjalainen says.

The idea of dismantling has also been linked to the Imatrankoski school in the plan change. This would enable new construction in the area. The plan change still requires that the sports and park area be preserved.

Demolition is also proposed for Tainiotalo. In its place, the construction of small apartment buildings and apartment buildings would be allowed. The Tainionkoski school buildings wouldn't be used with a demolition bucket, even in a plan change.

The Kaukopää school buildings are protected in the general plan and site plan. In terms of the future of the school, however, the formula change is a significant orientation towards the future.

─ We have invited the residents' association of the area to discuss the plan change, says Karjalainen.

More specifically about the facility and content for the start of the plan changes 17.2. from the city from the website.
