The possibility of permanent housing is being explored in the Ukonniemi area

- The city of Imatra is launching a study on the conversion of part of Ukonniemi's vacation homes into permanent homes, says the city planning manager Ulla Karjalainen

The issue has come up in discussions with various operators, because there are currently underutilized vacation homes in Ukonniemi that would like to be converted to permanent housing.

Various options have been explored and it has been decided that a general and site plan project will be launched, which will also explore the possibilities of permanent housing. The purpose is to prepare a hybrid formula that enables both permanent and holiday living in the area.

The city of Imatra has consistently developed the Ukonniemi area for leisure and recreation since the 70s. There have been tourism and recreational activities in the area, including a camping area since the 70s.

The start announcement will be published on February 17.2, after which the material will be added to the zoning's internet pages after the actual planning has started.
