Väylä informs: The construction of Mansikkakoski's new railway bridge will start

Väylä (former Finnish Transport Agency)  ja NRC Group Finland Oy (former VR Track Oy) have entered into a contract for the implementation of the new Mansikkakoski railway bridge. The contract is related to the Luumäki-Imatra railway project (LUIMA project) and the debt program for the repair of traffic lanes regarding the bridges of the Karelia railway.

The contract, which will start with the preparatory works in week 4, includes the construction of the new railway bridge at Mansikkakoski and the modification works of the underpasses resulting from the bridge construction works.

- Regarding the railway traffic of the bridge in use, a new two-track railway bridge will be built on the north side of the existing bridge. The construction contract in question will be completed according to the contract by the end of November 2020, says the project manager Joonas Hämäläinen From the lane.

The current bridge, completed in 1933, will eventually be used by light traffic and motorists.
