Liisa Lääperi arrived at the Independence Day celebration of the city of Imatra wearing a lotta suit. Lääperi, who served Finland as a child, is from Vuoksela, on the shores of Vuoksi in the middle of Karelia.

Lääper's little lota's service coincided with the time when he was a volunteer in Kuorevedi.

- Back then gloves were woven and bandage brushes and sems were rolled.

Liisa Lääperi says that she comes to the Independence Day celebration with a good mood, even though she mourns the past Karelia.

- I was 16 years old in 1944 and I remember everything.

Lääperi has visited his former hometowns many times and next spring's trip is already being planned.

This year, there were about 250 people at the Independence Day celebration of the city of Imatra. The population was slightly higher than in previous years.
