The language classes will eventually be located in the new Koski school center.

Next Tuesday, the welfare board will consider placement options for bilingual and language-enriched teaching in the 2020-2021 school year.

The language classes currently operate in Linnala and Mansikkala. In accordance with the service network decision, the emphases of the three school centers have been aligned; Koski's school will be emphasized in the future languages and internationality.

This means that the language-focused classes will move to Koske's school in 2021, when the new school there is completed. The placement of the language classes has been announced different parties at school center hearings in autumn 2016. Parents of new students in E classes were told about this at an information session organized in January 2018.

The welfare board will have something to think about next week also at which point to transfer the language classestis administratively under the authority of Koske School Centre. The presentation to the board is that the transfer will not take place until 2021. Until then, the classes will continue as part of Mansikkala.

Temporary premises for rent from Sampo?

Mansikkala's new tree school will be completed in 2020. At that time, it is planned to abandon Linnalan's property for school use and the temporary modules located on the Linnala field.

The alternatives for the academic year 2020-2021 are placing the language classes either Sampon premises or in one module to be left on the Mansikkala field.

It is presented to the board that the language classes will be moved to wait for the completion of Koske's school for one academic year For premises rented from Sampo. At the moment, a high school and partly also the Linnala school operate in those premises.

This solution would make it possible to start the basic renovation of the Linnala field on the planned schedule and thus secure sufficient capacity of sports facilities for both the Mansikkala school center and the wider city as a whole, welfare director Hanna-Kaisa Ellonen says.

It would also be more difficult to arrange playgrounds in the yard area on the side of the sports field for one module. A safe access connection can be made from Sampo's premises directly to the yard of the old Linnala school.

The board will decide on Tuesday

In addition, cost reasons are in favor of temporary premises rented from Sampo, because the annual costs for the module would be around 300 euros and for Sampo's premises 000 euros.

Indoor air tests were carried out in Sampo's premises in 2016. The indoor air working group has not received any reports of symptoms from current use.

The agenda of the welfare board meeting next Tuesday will be published today (September 13.9) during Thursday afternoon. In the list, the proposal regarding language classes has been discussed in more detail. You can find the list this way.
