Arktes Oy, an architectural firm, has been selected as the designer for the renovation of the Imatra swimming pool.

The swimming pool renovation project begins with a planning phase, during which the content, implementation method and costs of the renovation are determined.

The board of directors of Imatran Toimitilat Oy has selected Arkkitehtuuritoimisto Arktes Oy as the architect and chief designer for the renovation of the Imatran swimming pool. The decision was made at the board meeting on July 7.

The designer was selected based on a competitive bidding process. The comparison weighed 70 percent on quality and 30 percent on price.

Bidders were required to have at least 15 years of work experience and experience in designing the new construction or renovation of at least one swimming pool or spa facility within the past five years.

The design work is progressing in stages.

During the planning phase, a realistic and technically feasible plan for the project and a cost estimate are prepared as a basis for further preparation.

– About a year will be set aside for planning. After that, implementation planning will be done before the construction decision is made, says the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Imatran Toimitilat Oy. Arja Kujala.

The designer's competition was launched in spring 2026. The first competition received three bids, but it was interrupted due to an error detected in the request for tender. A new request for tender was published at the end of May and three offers were also received.

The city council decided to start planning the renovation of the swimming pool in March 2026.
