Street lighting renovation work will be carried out in Imatra in July and August.

Street lighting is being renovated in Meltola, Viipurintie and Vuoksentie.

The City of Imatra will be renewing street lighting in several locations during the summer. The work will begin in Meltola in July and continue until August on Viipurintie and Vuoksentie.

Preparatory work has already begun this week on Viipurintie with the implementation of undercutting drilling. This method of implementation allows the lighting network cables to be routed under the road without breaking the asphalt.

The new street lighting structures will be implemented with underground cables, steel poles and LED luminaires. The luminaires have a programmed dimming profile so that the lighting dims at night when there is little traffic.

– The same practice is used in all LED street lighting fixtures installed in Imatra, says the city gardener Erika Luhtanen.

Old lighting is being renewed in Meltola

In Meltola, street lighting renovation will be carried out in weeks 28–30.

During the renovation, the old lighting network will be dismantled and a new one will be built in its place.

New lighting will also be built on Viipurintie and Vuoksentie

The street lighting renovation on Viipurintie between Jutinkatu and Onnelakuja will be carried out during weeks 29–31. In addition, completely new street lighting will be built on the light traffic route west of Viipurintie between Jutinkatu and Nyyrikinkatu.

The renovation of street lighting on Vuoksentie will begin in August, week 32. New street lighting will be built on the Vuoksentie light traffic route between Linnankoskenkatu and Highway 6.

New lighting will also be built in the Veterans Park along Vuoksentie. Low bollard lights will be installed along the park's corridor.

The work will cause temporary traffic arrangements

During construction work, traffic will be controlled at the sites, and there may be temporary disruption to movement.

On Viipurintie, the light traffic lanes will be closed as the work progresses, so that traffic can use either the light traffic lane on the west or east side of the road at all times.

– We ask those traveling in the area to follow the signs at the construction sites and be prepared for temporary changes to the routes, Luhtanen reminds.
