Most customer data is automatically transferred from Arena to Finna.

Heili libraries will switch to using only the Finna online library starting Monday, August 17, 2026. The Arena online library will operate in the background until August 31, 2026, after which it will be closed completely.

– Arena replaced Finna in December 2024 when the library system was replaced, because the payment functions of the new system did not yet work in Finna. At the request of customers, Finna was later returned alongside Arena, and now online payment of library fees can also be done in Finna, says the librarian of the city of Imatra Mika Kähkönen.

Most of the data is transferred automatically

When migrating to Finna, most customer information, such as contact information, loans and reservations, will automatically be transferred from Arena to Finna. However, the customer's own reviews and information stored in the Shelf functionality will not be transferred.

– If the customer wants to keep this information, they must save it themselves before migrating, Kähkönen reminds.

Customers' personal information and transaction-related information are already stored in the library system and will be transferred to the new online library without any further action.

Information that is not transferred, but you can keep for yourself

Shelf

The shelf information is Arena's own functionality and cannot be transferred to the Finna online library. However, the information can be sent by email, printed or downloaded as a file for your own use.

This information is not transferred and cannot be stored.

Saved searches

Saved searches are system-specific and cannot be transferred except by performing the searches again in Finna and saving them. The search is saved by clicking the +Save search button at the end of the search results.

Data storage, Shelf

First, log in to the Arena online library and then go to My pages > My lists and reviews.

First, open the list whose data you are saving.
Select all items in the list from the menu at the top. If there are many items, it may take a while to select them. The check marks will turn blue when all items are selected.
Then, from the menu at the top, select how you want to transfer/save the data:
Email When sending, the system will also request the recipient's email address and image certificate before sending the message.
When printing The function opens the browser's print window.
Download Save the data as a text file (txt) on your computer.
