Cycling around Lake Saimaa with the Saimaa Cycle Tour 10–12 July 2026
Construction for the event will begin on Monday evening, July 6.7. That's when construction of a tent will begin in the Inkerinaukio market area at the corner of Kuohu. The area will be fenced and guarded.
The same evening, fencing off sections of the streets on Helsingintie and Imatrankoskentie will also begin. All necessary crossings will remain accessible throughout the construction period.
– During the evening, truss gates will also be erected on Helsingintie and Imatrankoskentie, crossing the road. During these erections, traffic will be temporarily stopped for a few minutes at a time, says the event producer of the Saimaa Cycle Tour Juho Suikkari.
Tuesday, July 7.7. The fencing of sections of the street will continue.
Special traffic arrangements 8–13.7 July.
On Wednesday, July 8.7th at 13.7 p.m., the lanes of Helsingintie between Torkkelinkatu and Imatrankoskentie on the Inkerinaukio side will be closed. The closure will be in effect until Monday, July 13th at approximately 3 a.m.
Traffic will be diverted in both directions to the lanes facing the city center.
At the same time, Inkerinaukio will also be closed to traffic. Inkerinaukio and the Saimaa Cycle Tour EXPO will open to the public on Thursday, July 9.7th, and will be open from 16 pm to 20 pm. At night, the area is closed and guarded.
Friday, July 10th, starting at 9:00 am:
- Imatrankoskentie will be completely closed between the city center and Pistetalato roundabout.
- access allowed for rescue vehicles
- Pedestrians and cyclists are allowed across the bridge at all times.
- Helsingintie and Tainionkoskentie will be closed between Torkkelinkatu and the Town Hall roundabout.
- Driving to the plot is permitted from the Tainionkoskentie side.
Helsingintie and Tainionkoskentie will be opened to traffic on Saturday, July 11.7th at approximately 12 noon.
The Imatrankoski Bridge will be opened to traffic on Sunday, July 12th at approximately 3:00 PM.
On the night between Sunday and Monday, July 12–13.7, Helsingintie and Inkerinaukio will be mainly opened to traffic. The market area at Kuohu corner will remain closed until Monday, July 13.7, during the dismantling of the tent.
The event starts with a children's bike ride.
On Friday, July 10th at 4:30 PM, a free children's cycling event will be organized, with routes running along the Imatrankoski Bridge and the Vuoksi Loop between the Mansikkakoski and Imatrankoski bridges.
– Approximately 350–400 children are expected to participate in the children's bike ride. We ask other users of the bike path to take note of the event between 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., Suikkari reminds.
Between Friday, July 10.7th at 19 pm and Saturday, July 11.7th at 1.30:4 am, approximately 600 cyclists will start on the road routes.
Cyclists will arrive at the finish line on Saturday between approximately 2:30 and 7 p.m.
On Sunday, July 12.7th, between 8 and 11.30:1 am, approximately 200 cyclists will set off on gravel routes.
The finish line will be reached on Sunday around 12:30–19:00.

Public transport during the Saimaa Cycle Tour
During the Saimaa Cycle Tour from 10 to 12 July 2026, traffic arrangements in Imatra will change and lines 21, 22 and 23 will be diverted. During the event, line 23 will operate a separate bus between Imatrankoski and Jakola according to the current timetable.
