Work on the Pelkola town plan continues
The proposed plan for the Pelkola area was on display throughout April. One objection was received to the proposal.
In addition, the Finnish Border Guard, among others, has issued a statement on the plan.
—We will continue working on the plan amendment based on the materials received. The proximity of the border crossing point and the settlement will present certain challenges to the plan. However, I believe that we will find a solution that takes everyone's needs into account, Land Use Manager Erik Forstén says.
The plan change was originally scheduled to be completed in June. However, work is still ongoing. It has been agreed with the Norwegian companies Freija and Norsk e-Fuel, who have made reservations in the area, that the plan will be submitted for decision-making in the autumn.
The City of Imatra has been developing the Pelkola area in a long-term perspective, and new industry is being located in the area. The change in the local plan is a significant part of the development of the area.
