The renovation of the underpass on Koulukatu will begin on Wednesday, June 10.6th.
This summer, the Koulukatu underpass in Mansikkala, located on the section of the street between Tietäjänkatu and Vuoksenrannankatu, will be renovated. The underpass renovation is scheduled to be completed by the start of school.
On Wednesday, June 10.6, the construction site will begin in the morning and at the same time the pedestrian walkway under Koulukatu will be closed. LThe best alternative crossing point for pedestrians and cyclists on Koulukatu is at the roundabout at the Tietäjänkatu intersection.
During the renovation, vehicle traffic will only be able to travel along one lane at the construction site.
— Public transport and emergency services will normally use the underpass on Koulukatu during the renovation, but we hope that other vehicle traffic will avoid the route in question this summer, advises Konsta Toikka, Regional Supervisor for Infrastructure Construction, from Mitra.
The underpass chiseling work will begin next week.
HDisturbing noise may be caused by demolition work, such as diamond cutting, chiseling and water hammering. This work will be carried out over a few working days during weeks 25-27.
— A notice about the renovation will be distributed to residents of the surrounding area within a radius of 150 meters from the construction site, warning of the noise pollution caused by the renovation, Toikka says.
Working hours are generally between 7 am and 19 pm on weekdays.
The underpass renovation involves repairing the underpass' edge beams, railings, and cover, including waterproofing.
The renovation of the underpass was commissioned by the City of Imatra, the developer was Mitra Imatran Rakennuttaja Oy, and the contractor was GRK Suomi Oy.
