Narrowing of the light traffic lanes on the Canal Bridge during the Imatra operation 2–6 July 2026

Narrowing the light traffic lanes is a precautionary measure to prepare for heavier traffic on the bridge than usual.

The light traffic lanes on the Canal Bridge will be narrowed for safety reasons during the Imatranajo event. Construction site fences and banners will be installed on the bridge on Thursday morning, July 2.7, and will be removed on Monday morning, July 6.7.

During a special inspection of the canal bridge, damage was found to the anchorages of the load-bearing structures of the bridge's light traffic lanes. This will result in precautionary measures being taken on the bridge during the event.

The observations made during the bridge inspection have been assessed and taken into account in the arrangements for the event. The damage found on the bridge does not pose a danger to normal traffic., says the city engineer of the city of Imatra Väinö Juvakka.

Especially during peak times when leaving the event area, vehicle traffic will not be allowed on the bridge to ensure the safe movement of pedestrians.
