Early childhood education client fees will change from August 1, 2026
Early childhood education customer fees and income limits have been subject to index checks based on the Early Childhood Education Customer Fees Act. Index inspections are carried out nationwide every two years.
A monthly fee is charged for early childhood education, which is determined by the size of the family, the family's income and the need for the service.
The highest customer fee for early childhood education will rise from the current 1.8.2026 euros to 311 euros per month starting on August 335, 30. The minimum charge will correspondingly rise from 32 euros to XNUMX euros.
The fee charged for the second child is a maximum of 40% of the youngest child's customer fee, i.e. a maximum of 134 euros, and the fee for the following children is 20% of the youngest child's fee.
Changes to income limits affecting payment
The change will also increase income limits. According to the Early Childhood Education Department's estimate, changes in income limits will affect the size of fees more than the increase in client fees.
– For this reason, the change does not automatically mean higher early childhood education fees for families, says the head of early childhood education for the city of Imatra. Minna Leinonen.
As a result of the change, a new payment decision will be made for all families using early childhood education in August.
– Now is also a good time to report up-to-date income information if it has not been reported during this year, Leinonen reminds us.
