Ukraine's national day is on Wednesday, August 24.8. The city of Imatra flies Ukrainian flags in three places, i.e. in the sports hall, Kulttuuritalo Virra and in the courtyard of the town hall.

─ In addition to this, we will paint a blue-yellow, approximately 24-meter-long community art carpet in the center in honor of National Day. We have invited painters of different ages to help. Matto will be located at the end of Inkerinaukio, next to Imatrankoskentie, contact director Tea Laitimo says.

In addition, the rapids dam will be illuminated later in the fall, as the evenings darken, with blue-yellow tones. Similar lighting was in spring and winter.

Throughout August, the city has also shown its sympathy for the Ukrainians by playing the Ukrainian national anthem before each rapids show.

─ The city wants to show its sympathy to the Ukrainians and at the same time welcome the Ukrainians fleeing the war arriving in Imatra to the city, says Laitimo.
