The Mellonlahti pumping station is now running
As part of the project to improve the water quality of Mellonlahti, two discharge pipes were sunk into the bottom of the bay and a pumping station was built on the Vuoksi side, from which 200 l/s of clean water is pumped into Mellonlahti and the old water exits via discharge pipes to Vuosi.
- Now we finally get to observe the operation of the pump and the level of the Mellonlahti water level, says the fishing master Tomi Menna from the city of Imatra.
Mellonlahti's water quality is now starting to improve and the bay can be better used for recreation. In two years, the water quality in Lahti is expected to be as good as in Vuösi.
Landscaping work in the area will start in late summer.
