Employees who come to the youth services are hired for employment relationships that are valid for the time being.

Education and youth manager Minna Rovio says that by hiring additional staff, the city responds to the problems accumulated during the corona virus.

- Mental health problems and loneliness among children and young people have increased. The problems have been seen in the increase of child protection reports and in the answers to school health surveys in the whole of South Karelia, Rovio says.

Youth services team manager Niina Kupainen according to the special youth work is, by nature, proactive, preventive and social youth work.

- The employees will move where the young people are, i.e. in the youth farm, schools and the city. The activities will include individual and group activities as well as strong network work.

Hiring a new youth counselor enables the continuation of support measures for young people that currently operate with temporary funding.
