Sanna Petäjälehto, who joined the climate advocates, takes the climate into account, among other things, in the way of heating and movement.

Sanna Petäjälehton the family considers the climate in their everyday life in many ways.

—We have reduced wood burning for heating with the help of solar collectors, an air heat pump and ground heat. We have changed the cars we drive every day to fully electric ones and we prefer local products in our diet, says Petäjälehto.

The family has also made waste sorting and recycling more efficient and, for these reasons, has not cut down the forest belonging to the plot.

— We haven't made all the changes necessarily just for climate reasons, but they have an effect on that as well. They have also affected living comfort and life in general.

The work also continues in the Petäjälehto family

Petäjälehto believes that everyone can influence the progress of climate change with their own choices. The responsibility lies with both individuals and the state.

Finland should invest in renewable energy and also nuclear power, he says.

—Energy is the basis of everything. Legislation must be changed if necessary and must be looked to the future. Efforts must be made to preserve forests and people must be taught to change their behavior, even if it means giving up the benefits they have gained.

The next steps in the Petäjälehti family are already being planned.

—We would like to install solar panels to generate electricity and replace the doors and windows of the house to reduce heat loss, he says.
