Carbon sequestration and energy efficiency are being improved in South Karelia
The energy efficiency of buildings can be improved with good planning. This has already been done, for example, at the municipal office of Taipalsaari, where the project has made a plan for changing the lighting. The project has already implemented an air heat pump plan for maintaining basic heat for Heikkilä Toitituva.
Let us know which utility buildings we can implement a plan to improve energy efficiency! You can notify the project implementers by phone or email To Tanja Nyholm, to the environmental action of the Lappeenranta region or To Anna-Maija Wikström, to the environmental action of the Imatra region.
In the coming heating season, the project will carry out energy inspections of the following buildings:
- Virmutjoki Seurojentalo, Ruokolahti
- Merenlahti village hall, Ruokolahti
- Hanhijärvi village hall, Taipalsaari
- Haapajärvi village hall, Lappeenranta
- Kummu University, village school, Parikkala
The climate-themed nature tours of the Hinku project continue
During the summer, the project has organized forest trips and field events where carbon sequestration has been introduced. There are still some carbon sequestration destinations left, and the following trips are coming up in the fall:
on Thursday 9.9. let's get to know Taipalsaari's Suoniity wetland. Departure to Suoniity is from Taipalsaari church at 12.30:XNUMX. The trip is free, but registration is required via the project's website.
on Thursday 23.9. is a forest trip to the forests of Muukko in Lappeenranta. The meeting is at the end of Lappeentie by the mast at 10.00:XNUMX.
on Wednesday 13.10. a bus trip to Metsäretke will be organized to carbon sequestration model sites in Utti. The bus trip will take place if the corona restrictions allow. The first 20 registrants will be accepted.
Register for the trip on the project's website
An overview of the spring and summer Hinku project
Chill in South Karelia! project organized an open webinar series in the spring of 2021, the topics of which were
- Transition from oil to renewables
- The benefit of a thermal camera in the investigation of heat leaks
- District heating
- Solar energy
- Log heating
- Low-carbon movement
During the summer, we have implemented open forest trips and field events, where we have learned about carbon sequestration. There have been forest trips to the urban forests of Imatra and the forests of the Tyynelä farm in Ahola. Piennar events were the Agricultural day in Ahola, the Niitty walk in Imatra's Itä-Siitola and in Parikkala, getting to know Arto Myllys' game wetland and Vesa Parvinen's charcoal farming.
